Welcome to TBR Chronicles

Hello friends,
Erica here! I sooo want to write a blog and have attempted it a couple of times. It’s just never stuck! But here I am, ready to try again! I do think that I will have more to say this time because I am so passionate about books!
With that all said, here’s just a small introduction to us!
If you’re new to The Book Room—welcome! We’re a cozy, independently owned bookstore nestled in downtown Wilkesboro, and we’re proud to be a gathering place for book lovers of all ages. My sister, Holly, and I are both avid readers. We took our passion for books, our experience with owning a different small business, and love for our community to begin this new chapter (pun intended!) While we have not been open long, I can say that Wilkes has welcomed us with open arms. We can definitely tell people have been wanting a bookstore. We have big goals and ideas, some of which we have already started!
So, whether you're popping in for your next great read, browsing gifts, or joining us for an event, we hope you feel at home the moment you step through our door.
With this blog, we wanted to create a space where we could connect beyond the store walls—a place to share what we’re reading, what’s happening in our community, and little behind-the-scenes glimpses of life at The Book Room.
Here’s what you can expect:
-Monthly book recommendations from us and our customers
-Store updates, events, and special features (like our “Voices of Home” project or “Read Across Wilkes” crawl)
-Spotlights on local creatives and small businesses we admire
-Cozy, bookish content—from blind date book hints to favorite seasonal reads
-Crafts you can have fun making!
Whether you’re a longtime customer or just discovering us online, we hope this blog becomes another way to feel part of something special.
Thanks for reading—and for being part of The Book Room story.

Not currently living in Wilkes – Would love to see how to start an online book club or if you might be creating one to connect with fellow readers.
I’m always looking for books to add to my TBR! Especially ones I wouldn’t normally pick for myself (which is how I got into historical fiction, specifically Kristin Hannah). So I like to know WHY people recommend a book for others.
I think it would be adorable if you could show us how to create a book nook for our bookshelves. Like a tiny world or room to display amongst our books, if that makes sense. I need some Bookish craft ideas!
